How it works

by

Substrate runs as a personal web application. You sign up, get your own space, and start writing. No social feeds, no algorithms, no noise.

Under the hood, Substrate uses SQLite for storage, full-text search for finding things fast, and semantic embeddings for discovering related ideas you might have forgotten about.

Your notes live at your own subdomain. You control who sees what. Everything is written in Markdown, connected with bidirectional links, and stored in a format you can export any time.
