Publishing
By default, every note you write is private — visible only to you. When a note is ready to share, you can publish it.
Making a note public
Open any note, click the visibility badge, and choose Public. The note immediately becomes visible to anyone with the link. You can always switch it back to private later.
What happens when you publish
Public notes appear on your garden's front page for visitors. Each public note has its own URL you can share. Substrate also generates an RSS feed of your public notes so people can subscribe.
Writing for yourself first
Substrate is designed for private thinking. You do not write for an audience — you write for yourself. Publishing is optional, and some notes stay private. When you do publish, it is because the note is ready, not because you feel obliged.
